Today we pick up where we left off in the previous blog. The question on the minds of some of you no doubt is “Will Christ’s Second Coming be fulfilled in connection with the fall feasts?” An intriguing and provocative question to be sure! If the answer to this question proves to be in the affirmative, then we can conclude that the Bridegroom will make his appearance in the fall of the year.

Another question that comes to mind is, do we have any other evidence pointing to the fall of the year? Well, it just so happens that we do! We shall now consider a statement made by the Prophet Joseph Smith regarding the sign of the rainbow, we read:

“While inquiring of the Lord concerning the end of time, it was made known to me by the Holy Spirit that there should be prosperity, seedtime, and harvest every year in which the rainbow was seen. For to that was Noah referred as a surety on this subject. But in the year when the bow was not to be seen would commence desolation, calamity, and distress among the nations, without seed time or harvest.” (Kent P. Jackson, Joseph Smith’s Commentary on the Bible, p.112.)

So the sign of the rainbow is not just that “the bow was not to be seen” but that we shall also see “desolation, calamity, and distress among the nations, without seed time or harvest”. So when these three key conditions are met, no rainbow, no seed time and no harvest, which is of corse in the fall, the Bridegroom should make his appearance. Now, let us move on to consider the fall feasts and see how they might fit in with our proposal.

We start with the Feast of Trumpets. We approach the fall feasts using the Hebrew calendar and for ease of application we use the year 2020 as an example. Again, we post the chart of the feasts and Hebrew calendar as a visual aid.

All three fall feasts are in the month of Tishrei on our Hebrew calendar. The feast of Trumpets starts (ten days total) on the 1st day. That would translate to Sept 7 in our example year of 2020.

So let us suppose that it is Sept 7, 2020 and we are in attendance at the feast of Trumpets. Where are we exactly? Well, we’re at Adam-Ondi-Ahman but do any of us know what we’re supposed to be doing? Have any of us attended a priesthood meeting where there was a rehearsal for this?

Where’s Moses when you need him or Aaron or Joshua or…. even mighty Michael? Hmmmmm…. Well…. Might it be that they will all be present? Could it be that the fall feasts are incorporated into what Daniel described in chapter 7 where he wrote:

9  I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened….
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

If this were the case, then we could suppose that the first 15 days of these proceedings, the feast of Trumpets and the feast of Atonement are preparatory to the great event. A time of heralding, a time of rejoicing, a time of judgment, the reporting of stewardships, a gathering of keys.

Oh, and incidentally, the feast of Atonement is also associated with the fall harvest. Remember… no rainbow, no seed time, no harvest? Certainly we are now prepared for the feast of Tabernacles or Booths, we read:

1And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (Rev. 21)

We’ve made no attempt to give the hour and the day of the Lord’s appearance, however, the feast of Tabernacles will commence on Oct 3 in our example year of 2020 and run for seven days. Would that be close enough?

Surely anyone desiring to understand the Second Coming could be greatly benefited by a further study of this subject. There is so much more of interest that was not touched upon in today’s blog.
